Sonas, Maigh Cuilinn
Sonas is run by a group of volunteers who provide social activities in the Moycullen Community Centre on Friday mornings
for the older people of Moycullen and surrounding district. Activities include crafts, art, games, bingo, computers,
informative talks and demonstrations. In addition there are occasional outings to the cinema, theatre and places of
local interest, plus an annual pilgrimage to Knock and a Weekend Hotel Break. Members also enjoy a party at Christmas and Midsummer.
Sonas plans to extend their activities to 5 days a week with the provision of a new Centre in the village.
Plans for this, and a few small houses for older people, are currently lodged with Galway County Council.
